Marya Haefner

Marya Haefner grew up in Rochester, New York, one of four sisters, and shares a unique twin bond with Christine Nazario. The two not only grew up side by side but also shared a passion for athletics, earning volleyball scholarships to attend Catawba College in North Carolina. Their talent took them all the way to Hawaii for tournament play, and their legacy still lives on—both are proudly recognized by the Catawba volleyball program to this day.

Marya raised her children in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she balanced motherhood with a passion for health and community. She worked as the Senior Games Event Director while also teaching fitness classes and offering personal training. In 2019, she returned home to Rochester to care for her elderly parents.

Her favorite memory with Victoria would be helping Victoria get ready for her senior prom—spending the day at the nail salon, meeting all her friends, taking photos, and sharing in the excitement. A very, very special moment filled with love and pride.

Currently, Marya is a dedicated member service representative and personal trainer at the Rochester Jewish Community Fitness Center. Fitness has always been a guiding force in her life—a source of strength, joy, and connection. She has a strong social circle and enjoys days at the lake or breakfast at the local diner!
